About Odessa

Odessa is a resort town with frivolous, almost anecdotal glory which fought heroically in times of war, for which it was awarded the title of “Hero City”. It is an administrative, economic, and cultural center of southern Ukraine.

The city is located in the extreme south of Ukraine, 30 km from the entry of the Dniester River on the Black Sea coast.

During more than 220 years of its existence from a small port settlement on the Black Sea Odessa has become an industrial, transport, educational, scientific and cultural center of southern Ukraine, as well as the national recreation center.

By the number of objects of cultural and historical value Odessa is one of the richest cities of Ukraine.

Since 2009 the historical center of Odessa has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The tourist and recreational industry of Odessa is one of the strategic directions of the City development. Odessa has all the preconditions for the intensive development of tourism: the peculiarities of geographical location, favorable climate, one of the largest sea ports of Ukraine, developed resort and recreational complex, beaches, transport, financial and socio-cultural infrastructure and historical heritage.
