National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” is well-known for a long time in the world of marine shipping thanks to its high rating among leading maritime institutions, its highly qualified specialists and over 100,000 graduates. The Academy is equipped with modern facilities where Ukrainian and foreign shipping specialists undergo training and upgrading courses.
“Odessa Maritime Academy” has also earned respect and trust due to its accreditation of programs of the Academy by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and Nautical Institute (London), its membership in the International Association of Maritime Universities, active participation of the academy scientists and teachers in authoritative forums, conducted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and leading maritime educational and scientific institutions of the world.
Annually thousands of cadets undergo on board training on vessels of more than 130 foreign companies. With every oncoming more and more ship-owners of Belgium, Great Britain, Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Singapore, France, Japan and other leading maritime states give preference to the graduates of our University. All the University’s graduates are successfully employed in command positions on vessels, enterprises, companies and organizations in the marine industry.
For 30 years of Ukrainian independence the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” has not given up its positions gained earlier, but has established new institutes, faculties, programs, the Training and Certification Centre of Seafarers, equipped with modern simulators, where seafarers of domestic and foreign shipping companies refresh and improve professional skills. Nowadays, the Academy is the leading scientific and methodical center, which determines philosophy, strategy and ways of improvement of maritime education in Ukraine.
Under the new economic conditions our main task is to ensure high competitiveness of the National University graduates in the world market of labor owing to keeping standards of education at the level of national and international requirements taking into account the highest demands of the world leading ship-owners and operators in maritime industry.
